Cardinals to activate Suppan

08/31/2010 - Houston, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The St. Louis Cardinals announced Tuesday that pitcher Jeff Suppan will be activated from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday in order to make the start that day against Houston.

Suppan has been on the DL since August 11 with a a sore groin.

The veteran right-hander has made eight starts for St. Louis since being signed in early June and has a 4.14 earned run average and 1-4 record.

The 35-year-old was released by Milwaukee earlier this season after appearing in 15 games, making two starts, and posting a 7.84 ERA and 0-2 mark.

Also, the team announced that outfielder Nick Stavinoha and catcher Matt Pagnozzi will be recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.

Stavinoha has appeared in 62 games for St. Louis this season and is batting .263 with two homers and seven RBI while Pagnozzi has yet to make an appearance in the majors this season.
